What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a site asks your browser to store. Related tools — localStorage, for example — can hold a similar preference on your device. They can be essential to remembering a choice, or optional tools for understanding traffic. They are not a substitute for a tracking plan; they are how this particular brochure site keeps a note of your consent.
Types we use
Essential. We store your cookie choice so the banner does not return on every page load. That storage is needed to remember a refusal as much as an acceptance. The site’s pages, forms, and courses remain available if you reject analytics.
Analytics (optional). Only if you press Accept on the banner may we set a lightweight analytics cookie to see which rooms of the atelier are read (for example, whether the Signal Atlas is visited more than Fees). Rejecting does not lock navigation, forms, or reading. We do not use the banner as a wall.
Cookies table
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| apimaphub_cookie_consent | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies. Essential to honouring that choice. | Until you clear site data (localStorage) | Api Maphub (first party) |
| _ga or equivalent | Optional analytics identifier, set only if we enable a United Kingdom–configured analytics tag after Accept. Not set on Reject. Absent when no vendor is wired for a given season. | Up to 14 months, vendor default | Analytics vendor acting as processor, if enabled |
If an analytics vendor is not enabled in a given season, the third row simply does not appear in your browser. The consent key still does.
How to manage or disable cookies
Use Accept or Reject on our banner. To change your mind, clear localStorage for api-maphub.digital (or site data for this origin) and reload; the banner will return. You may also block cookies in your browser settings, including “block third-party cookies.” Essential localStorage may then forget your choice and show the banner again, which is expected.
Browser guides differ: look for Privacy or Cookies in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. On some mobile browsers, “prevent cross-site tracking” will limit third-party cookies without touching our first-party consent key.
Third-party cookies
Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts and images from Unsplash or Pexels. Those networks may set their own cookies or logs when your browser requests an asset. We do not control their duration. They are not our App Analytics product; they are how photographs and letters arrive. If you wish to avoid them, a browser with strict tracking protection or a font/image blocker will still leave the HTML readable, though the room will look plainer.
We do not run advertising cookies. We do not drop a pixel because you opened a course page.
Impact of disabling
Rejecting optional analytics does not hide syllabi, forms, or the journal. You may see the cookie banner again if you clear storage. Blocking all cookies and storage may also forget nothing of importance for reading; it may only make the banner persistent. Forms still post to our mock acknowledgement endpoint on this static site; they do not require analytics cookies.
Personal data more broadly is described in Privacy.
